MyVA Access: Same-Day Services

February 22, 2017

MyVA Access is focused on providing Veterans with timely access to care, especially Veterans with needs for care right away. Known as Same-Day Services, it means that a Veteran with a need for care right away will have their care addressed the same day or schedule appropriate follow up care, depending on the urgency.

What does same-day services mean?
We may address the Veterans’ need for Same-Day Services by providing a face-to-face visit, returning a phone call, providing medical advice telephone call from a nurse (nurse triage), arranging a telehealth or video care visit, filling a prescription, scheduling a future appointment, secure messaging and walk-in appointments to a clinic or the Urgent Care Center.

Basically, when Veterans require primary care assistance right away, during regular business hours, they are able to get services the same day or if after hours, by the next day. Additionally, if a Veteran is in crisis or has another need for care right away in mental health, they will receive immediate attention from a health care professional at the Erie VAMC. Any Veteran new to mental health with a non-urgent need will receive an initial screening evaluation by the next calendar day.

This is our commitment to the Veterans we serve.  For more information about this commitment, visit VAntage: Putting Veterans First by increasing same-day access to care.
