August 18, 2015

8/12/2015 (Erie, PA) - Erie VA Medical Center is hosting the annual Prisoners of War/Missing in Action (POWs/MIA) Remembrance Ceremony to honor our Nation's most revered heroes, those who served under the worst of conditions, sacrificing their freedom so that our country may know true liberty.

What:               POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony

When:              Friday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m.

Where:             Erie VA Medical Center - Second Floor Conference Rooms

Who:                 Erie VA invites former prisoners of war, their families, friends, and members of the community to attend the POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony.

Each year during the ceremony, local former POWs are given time to share their stories and experience of captivity.  This year's ceremony will also include a special missing man ceremony in remembrance of those who never returned.

Former POWs in the Erie and surrounding areas are encouraged to contact Kevin Tessner, Erie VA's POW Coordinator, at 814-860-2038.

**Members of the media are invited to attend this event.  Please note, the ceremony will not be interrupted for media interviews out of respect for our former POWs and their families in attendance.  Interviews will only be conducted 15 minutes before the ceremony or immediately following the ceremony.  If you would like to interview a former POW, contact Sarah Gudgeon at 814-860-2097 to pre-schedule the interview.
