Erie VAMC to Host VA2K Walk & Roll Event to Benefit Homeless Veterans

3/27/2015 (Erie, PA) – Erie VA Medical Center is hosting the 5th annual Walk & Roll Event to support homeless Veterans and to promote physical activity open to all community members. 

When:              Wednesday, May 20 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

What:               Join Erie VAMC staff and fellow Veterans in a non-competitive VA2K walk and roll around the Erie VAMC campus.  This free event helps promote health and wellness while building awareness about the programs and services available to homeless Veterans.  The walk kicks off at 11:30am with a brief opening ceremony followed by a warm-up.  Health Promotion Disease Preventions (HPDP) representatives will be on-site to direct participants throughout the walking route.  The Homeless Care Team will also be on-site to provide information to community members on how to get involved in supporting local homeless Veterans. 

Where:             Erie VA Medical Center gazebo located in the front of the medical center near 38th Street.

Who:                 This invitation is open to all Veterans, their families, VA employees, and community members who wish to participate.
