Print Version (MS Word)

Erie VA Medical Center is pleased to invite Veterans, their families, and community members to attend a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony & Open House in celebration of the new Ambulatory Surgery Center on Monday, October 26th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will begin promptly at 10am followed by the Open House.

The new 9,500 square-foot Ambulatory Surgery Center, located near Erie VAMC’s 2nd floor entrance, is expected to open this November. The new facility offers two endoscopy rooms, two operating rooms, three post-anesthesia care beds, and seven pre/post operation rooms.

This new Ambulatory Surgery Center will allow for the potential of expanding of services and procedures, specifically cataract surgery and certain pain management procedures, in addition to those services already being offered.

Currently, the Erie VAMC provides general surgery, urology, and orthopedic surgeries. Common procedures include:

  • General Surgery – colonoscopies, endoscopies, hernia repair, skin lesions, and vascular access procedures.
  • Urology – cystoscopies, prostate biopsies and surgeries, treatment of bladder lesions, lithotripsy, and vasectomies.
  • Orthopedic Surgery – trigger finger release, carpal tunnel release, knee and shoulder arthroscopies.

The Ambulatory Surgery Center is designated as an advanced ambulatory, or outpatient, surgery center. Complex cases and high-risk patients will continue to be sent to sister facilities that have a higher complexity level of care, such as Pittsburgh VA, as patient safety is our first priority.
