Erie VA to Host Free Dementia Lecture Series

Honoring Service, Empowering Health

9/17/2014 (Erie, PA)-- Erie VA Medical Center (VAMC) will be hosting a free, two-part lecture series covering dementia as part of National Alzheimer's Week.

What:  Dementia doesn't just affect one person, it affects the whole family.  That's why Erie VAMC is hosting a free, two-part lecture series to help Veterans, their families, and community members understand dementia -- everything from symptoms to treatments to support available in the community.

Where:  Erie VA Medical Center -- Second Floor Conference Rooms


1) Tuesday, September 23 from 1pm-2pm
    Lecture Topic:  "Dementia As I Have Seen It"; followed by a question and answer session
    Presented by:  Dr. Bharwani, MD, Erie VAMC Community Living Center Medical Director

2) Friday, September 26 from 9am-10:30am
    Lecture Topic:  VA Programs & Community Services for Dementia Caregivers; followed by a question and answer session
    Presented by:  Tricia Stritzinger, LCSW, Erie VAMC Caregiver Support Coordinator & Debbie Wisinski, Alzheimer's Association Family Service Coordinator

Who:  Both lecture series are open to the public -- Veterans, their families, employees, and community members are encouraged to attend.
