Welcome Home Veterans Appreciation Day
Celebrating Veterans of the past and present.
Tickets are now available for the annual Welcome Home Veterans Appreciation Day at the Jerry Uht Park coming up Saturday, July 23. Erie VA hosts this annual event to thank military service members and Veterans for their service and to connect Veterans with the health care benefits they deserve. VA staff will be on site at the ballpark to answer questions about health care, benefits, and more. The Welcome Home Event kicks off with a picnic dinner in the Jerry Uht Park for Veterans and their family and friends, followed by an Erie SeaWolves baseball game. The night wraps up with fireworks in the park.
What: Erie VA Medical Center hosts the annual Prisoners of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Remembrance Ceremony to honor our nation’s most revered heroes, those who served under the worst of conditions, sacrificing their freedom so that our country may know true liberty. Each year during the ceremony, local former POWs are given time to share their stories and experiences of captivity. This year will include the special missing man table in recognition of those who have not returned.
When: Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10 a.m.
Where: Erie VA Medical Center - Second Floor Conference Rooms
Who: Erie VA invites former prisoners of war, their families, friends, and members of the community to attend the POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony.
Last year more than 1,000 Veterans and their families attended the event and Erie VA looks forward to welcoming even more this year!
