Erie VA Medical Center

Flu Season 2019

Flu shots are FREE for those Veterans who are eligible for VA health care & have a valid VA ID card. Veterans can receive their flu shots at their regular scheduled primary care appointments. Also, eligible Veterans can schedule a nurse clinic visit by calling 814-868-8661 or stop by the front clinic desk to request a flu shot Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Being vaccinated is the number one thing you can do to protect yourself from the flu!  Protect yourself and those that you love by getting your flu shot!

All Veterans who are receiving their flu vaccine are asked specific health questions about their health history.

Erie VA has the standard quadrivalent flu vaccine that protects against 2 A influenza strains and 2 B influenza strains. There is no preferential recommendation made for any flu vaccine formulation for those 65 and older per CDC. It is important to receive your flu shot every year.

For all the latest flu information, please check https://www.erie.va.gov/flu/, call the Flu Hotline at 814-860-2730 or visit the official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/VAMCErie

Getting a free flu shot is just one of the many benefits offered by the Erie VAMC.  Veterans who have never enrolled in VA health care are encouraged to call our Eligibility Clinic at 814-860-2970 or stop in to the Eligibility Office with the DD-214 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to determine if they are eligible.
