Erie VA Medical Center is pleased to introduce Bonnie Lee Mikula as the new, full-time My HealtheVet Coordinator. As an Army Veteran herself, Bonnie has used My HealtheVet to manage her health care online over the past couple of years and is very excited to help fellow Veterans navigate the program.
"The best thing about My HealtheVet is that it gives patients the opportunity to truly be involved in their health care," says Mikula. "I'm thrilled to help other Veterans learn to use it so they can better manage their health care and simplify their life."
More than 8,200 Erie VA patients have enrolled in the My HealtheVet Program. Have you? With My HealtheVet, you can refill your prescriptions, view upcoming appointments, view lab results, and even send secure messages to your VA health care team all online.
To use all these features, you must first register for an account online at www.myhealth.va.gov (make sure you check "VA patient" when you register). Then you will need to complete and sign a one-page in-person authentication form that you can pick up at your next primary care appointment or ask for the My HealtheVet Coordinator. Once you are authenticated, you will have full access to all the features available through My HealtheVet include secure messaging.
Secure messaging allows you to send messages to your health care team instead of using the phone. For the safety of patients, secure messaging is not to be used for emergency or urgent situations. Erie VA health care teams have three business days to respond to your secure message.
